We LOVE a podcast. They make the most of a commute, and we also love to listen to them whilst cooking. You wouldn’t necessarily think that a food podcast would work, usually us foodies need to see the food being discussed, but there are some great ones out there to inspire your home cooking, travels and restaurant trips. Here are a few of our favourite podcasts out there at the moment to whet your appetite.
We have been listening to this podcast for a couple years and it can’t be beaten when it comes to reporting on food scenes across the world. It interviews chef’s and influencers from across the globe, as well as food and drink brands, to get to the heart of the dishes and tipples that will be hitting our tables.
I mean it’s Radio 4, so they know a few things about creating damn good radio. The Food Programme covers a huge amount of topics – recent episodes include a look at the rise of people eating alone, an in depth look at saltfish (music to a Gills Gals ears) and Grace Dent looking at clean eating.
The Delicious podcast is slightly newer than the above two, and comes out once a month (with an additional ‘Extra Portion’ podcast released in the same month). Recent episodes include a chat with Gills favourite Sabrina Ghayour all about her Persian cookery skills and flavours, and a look at the food festivals across the UK.
The Olive podcast comes out once a week and is a mix of where the Olive team are out and about and chef interviews. We loved their chat with Tim Anderson about all things Japanese food and a recent episode had a section on oysters!
Another Radio 4 masterpiece. This show is such a great listen, and watch (we went to a recording of it last year). It’s a panel show chaired by Gills favourite Jay Rayner and features a great mix of chefs and foodies. The show is always filled with fascinating food history and lots of food facts to impress your friends with at your next pub quiz.
Ok it isn’t food (well sometimes it is involved, fish mousse anyone?) but we couldn’t do a podcast round up without mentioning our favourites at My Dad Wrote a Porno. We are both obsessed fans, always listening on a Monday morning (#PornoDay) and also went to watch the group read it live at the Union Chapel. We often play it during our Gills recipe shoot weekends and collapse in fits of giggles.
